Human Rights Centre

In cooperation with the Human Rights Centre, we conducted a study on the human rights performance of companies providing housing services in Finland during 2021–2024. The publication focuses on the status of these companies in implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. It also analyses sector specific characterics to be taken into consideration in the analyses and actual implementation of corporate human rights responsibility.

In cooperation with Finnpartnership as an independent consultant, we provide consulting on environmental and social impacts, human rights impacts and fragile country contexts for companies that have applied project funding from Finnpartnership. We support companies in mapping environmental, social and human rights risks in various country contexts, risk management, and other follow-up measures.

FIANT was in the consultant team that evaluated the relevance and coherence of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland’s international climate finance. The team also identified results that have been delivered over the period 2016-2022.

In the SIHTI Project, we produced comprehensive and in-depth information on the status of human rights performance of 78 Finnish companies. The results of the study have been used as baseline information in many different contexts. The study was carried out in cooperation with Hanken School of Economics, Human Rights Centre and 3bility Consulting.

FIANT facilitated Development Policy Committee’s expert groups and was the main author of the publications produced by the groups. The first publication focuses on biodiversity, the second paper on food security and future of food systems, the third publication on Finland’s international climate finance, and the forth one on human rights-based approach in Finland’s development policy.

We were part of an evaluation team that assessed how human rights and the human rights-based approach (HRBA) have been implemented in Finland's development policy and cooperation in 2019–2021. The evaluation analysed e.g. how effectively the approach has been implemented, the value it produces, and the connection between the approach and risk management.

We conducted the mid-term evaluation of Fida’s development programme 2022-2025. The programme focuses on promoting education and safe living environments for children and youth in East Africa, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia. The evaluation assessed and analysed the results, strengths and weaknesses of the programme and made recommendations to support future work.

Evaluation of the Finnish League for Human Rights' work against female genital mutilation

The evaluation assessed Finnish League for Human Rights work against female genital mutilation in Finland from the perspective of e.g. effectiveness, effectiveness and development needs. The evaluation covering the years 2002-2021 focused on community-level awareness and behaviour change processes, training of key stakeholders, advocacy towards government authorities, and networking.
EU LIFE Programme and Strategic projects

FIANT was in the consultant team conducting a stakeholder study of the strategic LIFE projects 2021-2027. The team also supported the preparation of new strategic LIFE projects.
The strategic LIFE projects implement national strategies and action plans related to the environment, nature and climate, and mainstreaming the EU’s environmental goals.
Evaluation of the cooperation on Green Belt of Fennoscandia

FIANT was in the consultant team conducting the evaluation of the cooperation on Green Belt of Fennoscandia. The evaluation assessed e.g. achievement of the expected results and the impacts of the cooperation. The cooperation aimed at protecting natural and cultural heritage of the border area of Finland, Norway and Russia, and promoting regional economic and social sustainability.
Preparation of the sustainable urban area -programme

Helsinki region environmental service (HSY)

We facilitated a series of workshops preparing HSY programme on sustainable urban area. In the workshops, ideas for climate sustainability and circular economy projects, and related knowledge production were generated with relevant stakeholders. The programme covers the Helsinki metropolitan area and it is implemented in cooperation with public organisations, companies, research institutes and residents until 2030.
